If you were a gamer and had to choose between

1. A Hyper 212 cooling an 8350, 500w Non-Modular PSU, 840 Evo 250GB SSD, and 1ms 144hz monitor.

and

2. An H100i cooling an 8350, 600w Semi-Modular PSU, 840 Pro 256GB SSD, and 1ms 60hz monitor....

Which would you choose?

EDIT:

IGNORE THE RAZER PERIPHERALS!! DX

Option 1: Click Here

Option 2: Click Here (I just found out the 840 pro is a pointless upgrade from the 840 evo for me)

I'll take suggestiosn on improvements. Budget = $1600-1650 (No higher)

**THE BUDGET CANNOT BE INCREASED...so don't suggest it please :)**

With a 500w PSU? Nothing that can drive constant 144fps will be powered by a 500w PSU.

The second option...

Semi Modular PSU and an H100i... Way better

A semi-modular psu and an H100i are not needed.  A regular psu may not give the OP as clean a look inside the pc case but in many instances who cares as long as the psu does it's job.  As for the H100i the OP doesn't need that either as the Hyper 212 is a great aftermarket HSF.  OP doesn't need the H100i.

I'll put together a PC parts picker in a min

Before you do, Do know that an 850 pro is silly unless you desperatley need the added reliability (which I doubt you do) -- I'd get an 840 or an Crucial MX100 (whichever is cheaper)

almost anything can be 144hz if you turn down settings, and a 980 will do work on a 500w psu

Actually you would be wrong in saying that as older titles could hit well over the 60 FPS mark with the right card.  Also if you looked at what I posted I said the monitor might be beneficial to the OP in the future so even if he didn't have a video card or cards that could drive well over 60 FPS for the games the OP wants right now maybe in the future the OP will have that.

You're basing your argument off "ifs". How do we know what games OP plays? My point was that he would have to upgrade the PSU and video card while having mediocre cooling on a mediocre CPU. To be honest I think none of these options are good ones.

I didn't know that the performance is that minor, I guess I'll stick to the 840 EVO

GTX 980 can do quite a few games at over 100fps and can be powered on a 400w PSU. I have an RM 550 and I had a 290x which was fine lol.

I'd go for option 1 but those setups can be optimized price wise.

Option 1, because I know the GTX 970 would display games smoothly on a 144Hz monitor. I have that same monitor with my 780 and I love it. Personally I can see the difference between 60Hz and 144Hz but if you are fine with 60Hz then it might not make a difference to you. It is just a matter of personal preference but I'd recommend the 144Hz monitor because I'm used to it and find that my games run more smoothly with it.

I'm sorry but a 212 evo is mediocre... I don't see why you even posted a response to my post. I was just saying that if he is able to run his system off a 500w PSU comfortably then he won't be able to play modern games at ultra or high settings at a constant 144fps. A 980 is not enough to run BF4 maxed 1080p at constant 144fps is it? No it is not.

I personally did not like either options.
