My first build GLaDOS

13thNemesis

Hey, some of you know I've been lurking around the forums and even opened some threads myself

asking for advice =)

Thank you all that helped me and gave me tipps..

Here are some pics of the build, it was my first ever build and my first ever real gaming PC!

There were no problems putting it together, even the cooler went in really quick once it was put together haha :D

The graphics card is coming tomorrow (ASUS Strix GTX 970) and also an HDD next month =)

I'll update the thread then =)

Why are you calling it GLaDOS? Are you doing a Portal theme somehow?

Considering the fact that GLaDOS has almost no red in it's/her color scheme, I would think not. He/She probably just likes the name.

To be honest though, a lot of people have PC names that have nothing to do with the rigs themselves. My small white beast isn't so beastly anymore, and The Standard is by no means a standard rig :P

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial DDR4 Pro | Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | Storage: 128GB Samsung PM961, 4TB Seagate IronWolf | GPU: AMD FirePro WX 3100 | Cooling: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM-850

Miscellaneous: Dell Optiplex 7060 Micro (i5-8500T/16GB/512GB), Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q Tiny (R5 2400GE/16GB/256GB), Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF (i5-6400/8GB/128GB)

Well I figured OP was doing some modding after he gets his parts in, but then I thought about it after I posted: usually people who do themes will mod the case if they already have it to the theme they're doing.

Idk man. I guess names are fine even if you're not doing the theme of the name, but still.

My Dell was only deadly when it had a Prescott CPU in it. xD

That's a really black GLaDOS..  Then again, there have been many systems given that name that have little to no resemblance.

The psu sticker is asking to be peeled off and the red is asking to be dyed one of the many shades of grey.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Well if the outside was white and the inside had yellow accents instead of red(which can still be done) the cables are all black which with a little artistic management could match the name of GLoDOS, about a month of work and a couple rolls of duct tape and you got yourself a GLaDOS themed build.

Why do you always die right after I fix you?

I like the name GLaDOS, nothing to do with a theme.. Otherwise I'll later on get some bells and whistles (NZXT HUE)..

Also I've tried to hide the cables as good as possible, will try to hide them some more tomorrow when I install the GPU..

Although the cable management looks messy IRL it is really neat =)

EDIT: Added the ASUS Strix 970.. and I love it.. It works great!

Also all the temps are great, CPU and GPU =)
