Looking for a sound card

killzyazmadness
Right now I'm using some Audio Technica M50x's. I love the headphones, but notice that they sound better on my HTC One M8 than they do on my desktop PC.

I think this has to do with my shitty on-board sound card, would you recommend getting a sound card?

Quoting a Linus Tech Tips video, not sure which one:

Pick a budget and then buy the best Asus Xonar card you can get in your budget.

^This

In the Xonar Essence STX unboxing (video in spoiler) he recommends a Xonar card no matter what the budget is.

I believe it's around the 7:00 mark.

If you need a sound card, don't spend too much money on it. The sound quality itself won't go up with price. Xonar DG(X) will be more than enough. If you want something "better" then there's always external solutions like Fiio e10k.
