8MB unallocated space on mSD Card after formatting

strawberrymaker

So today i switched the SD card on my Pi and i wanted to use that one for my phone. So i connected it to my pc, used easeus partition master to format the card (by deleting the two partitions from raspbmc and making a new one). But apparently my phone(huawei g525) wont recognize the sd card, which my pc did. after looking at the partitions, i found 8mb of space with i cant format.

Could the problem caused by that? Or should i just format it Ubuntu (live)? or just threw that sd card into another phone and hope to format it there? Thanks for the help :)

Formatting in NTFS will be why your phone doesn't recognise the card, FAT32 would be the way to go. As for unallocated space, not sure. Seen it before but I can't remember when/where/why.

It's normal. And for your phone to recognize it you'll have to format in FAT32.

Try formatting using the Windows Disk Management program. It works wonders.

formatted it now to fat32 and putted it back in the phone. the button "mount sd card" under settings -> storage is till grey. but if the sd card isnt formatted, i can click on it (but nothing happens)

gonna try that now. unchecked quick format this time. but that shouldnt take this much time because the card isnt that big.

Are you able to format it in your phone? Can't remember if you stated that or not.

when the card is formatted to fat32, nope. in settings -> storage, the button to mount the sd card is gray and not clickable. if the card isnt formatted, the button is clickable and i get the message "preparing sd card" but nothing happens after the message appears.

Huh. This makes me want to bring up GParted and Ubuntu, since I'm almost always able to fix stupid problems like this with that combo.
