RM Series

NeatSquidYT

Hi,

I think that the RM series looks sexy, but there's loads of hate concerning them. Are they really that bad? Will it be reliable for a few years?

No, they're pretty good entry-level fully modular PSUs. They're great if you want fully modular but can't afford HXi or AX.

I've seen a lot of hate on them. They're not bad, but they're not good either for the price. I've seen a lot of people recommend the EVGA 750 G2.

They aren't horrible PSUs,all the hate that you have heard around this because they are pretty expensive for what you get. The main turn off of them, is that for 750 and 850 version, they use Chinese caps where are not known for their reliability. Right now at NCIXUS, you can get a EVGA 750W G2 for considerably cheaper than a RM750 and it is a much better PSU in terms of build quality.

In the UK, everything's expensive as hell anyway so it doesn't matter :P

P.S. Is a 550W version good?

Apparently there were a lot of problems with cheap caps in the earlier days, but now they're pretty good. I'm still gonna get a CS power supply, since it is cheaper, and almost as nice.

Not sure, I haven't looked at anything that low in Watts during my research as I need bigger than that for my system.

What is the hate towards chinese caps? They are horribly hated on because of one power supply manufacturer that put them in backwards or something. And that caused them to explode. There is no justification for the hate. Japanese caps will explode if you put them in backwards.

Not worth buying i think is the general consensus. It depends on prices in your region though.
