Does it bother you when...

dizmo

It bothers me the most when they ask the question online. Why can't they just open a new tab and search?

I don't hesitate answering when they ask in an actual conversation.

I don't really see a problem with people asking dumb questions..

We were all beginners at one point, and beginners will probably have difficulty understanding how exactly a benchmark graph is going to correlate to real world performance. Asking a simple question about general performance is the easiest way to help them learn what the graphs mean..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Oh those are the worst! Where they put the question in the title and put "^this" in the body?

While I agree that some sites do a real shitty job of that, and are really directed more to enthusiasts, there are quite a few sites that will spell out what they do, why they do it, and what the graphs mean.

Almost all sites will say, for example, "Higher numbers equal better performance" at the bottom.

I learned most of what I know before I ever started posting in forums. Just by reading. It's a powerful skill.

Then again so is asking questions, so as always, 2 sides of the coin.

My rant was mostly at the basic "does x do x frame rates in x game at x resolution?"

The real basic questions like that, where they clearly know the basics.

It really gets on my nerves. In facebook alone, I can't decline to answer because I've already 'seen' the message. Also, they might not know it, but Google is faster than me when answering those questions.

Does it bother you when people ask questions like "How well does the 750Ti do in gaming on a 1080p monitor?"

I got to thinking today, and it just seems lazy. The person can clearly type in 750Ti review to Google, and come up with a massive abundance of answers and reviews containing benchmarks and other information galore.

These days, there's no excuse really. My 4 year old nephew can use Google and understand what it can do.

I mean, I do understand that the forum is here to ask and have questions answered, and let's be real, I'm glad people do as it gives me something to do when I'm really bored and I'm trying to procrastinate doing something more productive with my life.

But really. Some of the questions.

That's my beer fueled rant for the night.

Yes.

I even had "Google is your friend, learn how to use it!" as my sig. That's until a mod deleted it. Fucking ridiculous if you ask me...

I guess they love ignorant kids on these boards.

I voted in the poll without reading the rest of what he wrote.

I am impelled not to squeak like a grateful and frightened mouse, but to roar...

I find sometimes the mods are a little over reaching. Which is hilarious because IIRC I think me saying that is breaking the CoC.

Yes, but remember that this is a place where they can come to talk to people about it and ask specific questions and have a discussion instead of googling it.

not to mention that these are the kind of places people often find their answer when they are googling things..
