Does it bother you when people ask questions like "How well does the 750Ti do in gaming on a 1080p monitor?"

I got to thinking today, and it just seems lazy. The person can clearly type in 750Ti review to Google, and come up with a massive abundance of answers and reviews containing benchmarks and other information galore.

These days, there's no excuse really. My 4 year old nephew can use Google and understand what it can do.

 

I mean, I do understand that the forum is here to ask and have questions answered, and let's be real, I'm glad people do as it gives me something to do when I'm really bored and I'm trying to procrastinate doing something more productive with my life.

But really. Some of the questions.

Yes, but remember that this is a place where they can come to talk to people about it and ask specific questions and have a discussion instead of googling it.

It doesn't bother me. They obviously came to the LTT forums for a reason over using Google, maybe it's because they trust the users of LTT more than random Google results. (The reason I originally joined)

With you forums I find you get more information on what your question is, so in the case of your example. Someone is asking if a 750ti is good for 1080p gaming, someone might add, and say save up and get a 760 etc.

 

Or people with a 750ti can share their own experiences.

Not really. If I were them I would prefer using the forum as a resource on that over google

There is still the difference of interaction though. And odds are asking a forum will get more results with more people who have looked into it.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Anytime I look up benchmarks on just about anything, I see an overabundance of tomshardware tests.... no. Just, no.

It does bother me, but at the same time I'd rather them ask questions before buying something without doing research at all. I hate it when people buy something that they didn't actually want or need either.

 

We could just start telling people nicely how to research the information, but softly.

 

Like,

• "Here's a benchmark provided by /soandso, check them out whenever you need benchmarks. Also, here's the graph taken from the website."

 

It could give them initiative to do research on their own since they then have a source from you, but idk.

Yes, i'll give an example. When somebody on Tom's Hardware said that a FX 6300 and a R9 280X will bottleneck each other and to eliminate the bottlenecking, you'll have to overclock it. Not true, a R9 280X and a FX 6300 will not bottleneck each other.

I never really visited their site, but seeing that they actually record the minimum frame rates...they're my new favorite.

Oh definitely, there's loads of different scenarios. I was referring more to specific "does x card get x frames on x game?"

 

I guess I'm just shocked that people don't just do their own friggin research. Anyone who's paying more than $5 on something should do a decent amount of research before purchasing, on their own, to come to their own conclusions.

 

Forums do help, but where do we get our info? Exact same place they would, and they'd be smarter for it.
