295x2. Can I use a 650w?

cokemsu
Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

Gotcha...

Would the 750w be enough? Would rather have a little more just for some leeway just incase!

750W is enough, but if you find another unit from corsair evga or seasonic that is more than that, then get it. Just make sure it is at least 80+gold :)

for a single one yes

If you're saying that you're wanting to use the 290X with the 295X2, then it won't work. With just the 295X2 you should be fine.

With just the 295x2 you should be ok, they need 50A on the 12v rail and that unit has 70. Depending on your other components you should be fine

So... I guess a couple months ago I bought the wrong one and got a 650w version of it. No way this would work, right?

Yeah it'll be fine as long as you only do one card... Don't use adapters remember that the 295x2 requires two 8 pin connectors out of the power supply... The 295x2 is a very hungry card.

No, the 295x2 uses more than 650W...

You will crash if you try playing a game with only a 650W PSU.

Would this be a good one?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182315

comes out to 75$ after rebates and sales. Dont know if gold/bronze/plat makes a big difference.

Rosewill is like the noname brand of newegg.

I highly suggest getting something from seasonic, EVGA, or corsair.

Rosewill's OEM is Superflower, a very reputable PSU maker in Europe. Even the Hive's OEM is Sirtec and the Fortress ATNG. They aren't a no name brand or anything. They make very solid PSU's. So I wouldn't deter someone from a product unless you are absolutely sure about it.

The capstone line is very well reviewed. Just be aware that if you run in to issues, you WILL be required to send them the dead unit before they send you a replacement. Dealt with that already. Hence the EVGA I have now.

So you mean like every single other company out there? Including EVGA? That's just how it works, you send them the broken product they send you replacement. That's how an RMA works...

A lot of companies (Corsair, Maybe EVGA, I don't have any personal experience, Logitech, etc) will send you a replacement first so long as you give them a credit card they can place a hold on/charge if you don't send the original unit back.
