Hi Guys,

I am planning on rebuilding my old PC and putting it into the following configuration but am not all that good with PSU wattages and need a little help making sure I get a sufficiant PSU.

I generally use this site for my PSU wattage estimates, how good is this site and how close can you be before its dangerous for the PSU.

My build is going to be the following;

Intel i5 4670k

Gigabyte GA-Z97N-Gaming 5 ITX Motherboard

Kingston Hyper X Predator 2400mhz RAM

Gigabyte GTX 760 R2

An Intel 530 Series 120GB SSD and a Kingston Hyper X 3K 120GB SSD

Western Digital 1TB HDD Blue

Corsair Hydro H105 AIO CPU cooler

Bit Fenix Recon Fan Controller

Bit Fenix Alchemy LED strips

and it will be sitting in a Bit Fenix Prodigy Mini ITX Case.

The PSU is one of the few items I actually need to buy (With the motherboard and case) for this build and to keep the costs low I was looking at a 550W PSU rather than a 620W.

The website I linked states that my rig should use about 413W which if this is correct I am assuming will confutably run my system?

Cost wise, if I need to I don't have a limit on budget, but if I can use a 550W PSU confutably and save a tenner I will ;) Every little helps :P

Thanks guys, your help is much appriciated

A 650 should be fine.

Though its always good to have a little extra headroom, a solid 450w should do you just fine. Also be aware that BitFenix reccomends the PSUs max lenght @ 160mm.

Aria has a good deal on this Corsair RM 450 right now. 80+Gold, Fully modular, dead silent up to 40% load...

Thanks everyone :) You have all been really helpful. In reply to most questions as I said I only need to buy the Mobo, case and PSU, the rest is being taken from an old PC I had which just took up way to much room xD

I will be looking at getting the 550w PSU that I have been looking at.

Thanks again,

Once I finish building I will write it up with pictures and post in the builds forum.

Hi Lunanix,

It looks like you've already found your answer. As I see it, even 450W will be enough to power up your rig, but the 550W should be even better and you'll also be future-proofing. The mobo and the case you were looking at both look great. There are a number of suitable models of 550W PSUs, so it's up to you to find the best price to quality ratio. I'm looking forward to the pics afterwards too!

Cheers,

Titania_WD
