Hello

I'm looking to build a "balls to the wall" pc that will perform well for a period of time. I've been a console gamer for a long time and only about 2 years ago got into pc gaming with an expensive gaming laptop. I definitely love the surround gaming aspect, trying to set up a 3 monitor display with this build. I know that I will get the "you don't need this" and "start smaller for a first build". I get it, what I'm looking for is some advice if I am going too over-the-top with some items, but I'm still looking for a very high end build. I've never built a computer but I've seen many reviews, comparisons, and build guides to figure out what to do. There is no set budget really, but keep it (somewhat?) reasonable.

Onto the Specs:

Motherboard: Asus x99 Deluxe, possibly Asus  Rampage V Extreme for a black and red color combo

CPU: Intel core i7 5930k

CPU Cooler: Swiftech H220X

RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16G DDR4 2666 (4x4Gb)

GPU: Not sure on this, looking at dual 780ti's or dual 980's offer opinions prefer nvidia though

Storage: intel 730 series 240Gb SSD and a Western Digital 4Tb Black

Case: Corsair 750D

Power:Corsair AX1200i

Optical Drive: Asus BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS

OS: Windows 7 home premium

extras: ergotech triple monitor desk stand, Asus PB238Q x3, corsair k70 keyboard.

thanks again,

Dr Burrito

To be honest there is NO benefit of going X99 v s Z97 in gaming. You wont notice any FPS increase by going expensive X99 route instead of affordable Z97.

EDIT

Choose any peripherals you wish to have, There I suggest you this build.

If you're going balls to the walls, get the 5960x and get a bigger SSD. With this king of budget at least a 500 GB ssd. You don't realize hoe great they are until you have one. Also, get the dual 980's as they have better power consumption and offer the same of not better performance as the 780ti's.

As others have suggested, for a system to be used principally for gaming LGA1150 is often a better platform. Since you want a reasonably extreme build I would suggest going with the i7-4790K as it is the highest clocked Haswell family processor available. Two GTX 980 should be sufficient, but there is room in the build for another. I am also suggesting a 1TB ssd for principal storage. The 4TB drive is there for media.

something i forgot to mention in the original post, will this setup be able to run a 1080p with 60fps on the triple monitor? if possible a 1440p 60fps with better monitors? if not what would i need to upgrade?

It should handle most games on a triple 1080 monitor setup. Adding a third gpu should handle higher resolutions.  http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_980_SLI/1.html and http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/5623/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-sli--3-way-sli--4-way-sli-review a good variety of relevant benchmarks.
