Backlight bleed vs ips glow

Jedicake

Umm, if my monitor is powered on, and it's registered by the DVI, but screen is mostly black and there's a subtle white glow, is that backlight bleed or ips glow?

deal with it or get a monitor with a high quality ips panel. fyi, the bleed is a thing for any panel not just ips.

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.

what, wait maybe i got you mistaken. is the white glow you say the black screen when your monitor is powered on? that is simply normal. if the white glow is just somewhere in the corner and the rest is black, then it is bleed and you have to deal with it or replace it. (usually the retailer replaces it for free since such things are damages not caused by you, like dead pixels)

but why would your monitor not be usable? i mean even if it would be a cheap ips with dead pixels, bleeds and diarrhea it would be usable.

Monitor light on, black except glow in corner. I'm guessing it's not easy to fix a bleeding monitor by yourself?

Bought it from a user on OC and he used for 2 years.

The common fix is to take the bezel off and apply electrical tape in the affected area. Popular with people who gamble on Korean IPS panels and get a dud.

Thank you. I'll try anything at this point. Wish me luck.

Wait... Most of the fixes I see involve monitors that show image.. Why isn't an image showing on mine?
