Is there a way to automatically detect programs

I just installed my new SSD in my PC, and have installed windows 7 and a few other programs.

However on my old hard drive I had a ton of programs, that I don't particularly want to manually reinstall all of the programs.

I would like to know if there is a way of automatically detecting programs from my old hard drive, and putting them onto my start menu.

I hope that kind of makes sense :)

The only way to "put programs on a hard drive" efficiently is to install them.
