980 is the better card, but a 970 will likely suffice.

Correct me if im wrong but a 280x is enough

 The Wannabe is no longer. Replaced by the Flotilla. If you replace every part of a computer is it still the same computer?

Depends on the game, and the resolution or refresh rates he's aiming for.

Honestly though for the very slight increase in price you're getting drastically improved performance with a 970 over a 280x.

That's why AMD, I imagine, is in a rush to release their new cards.

Haha, I see. I just choose whichever has better performance, I have no loyalty one way or the other.

Especially with DX12 coming, Mantle looks less enticing.
