So if it doesn't outperform the 780ti, and the 780ti is being disconinued then.... 980ti or 990?

Hold your horses...we can only speculate the future existence of the 980ti, and you're already mentioning a 990? Take a few steps back.

Didint you say that it was supposed to go up like 2hrs after the embargo? SO you can get more views and such?

They agreed on the Wan show that they wouldn't rush new content out, that they should take their time instead of having constant sleepless nights. I'm not sure if they're sticking to that tho

Why would i do that? I'm asking for opinions, because if i was to get a new GPU, i would want the best performer. Remember when people got a titan, and then the 780ti came out. I don't want that to happen to me.

They will completely stop 780/780ti I don't know about 770 though. Quadros will be the only cards made.

This card is a beast in Compute.

According to PCworld, the 770 will cease production as well.

Opinions on what? No one knows anything about these made up (as far as any consumer knows) 980ti and 990 cards.

Opinions on whether it is coming, surely i'm allowed to ask that without being shut down.

Well, that was a disappointment, at most we're seeing a 10-20 FPS gain.

I do see the value in buying a card like this if you have a 600 series card or lower, but I don't see the point of upgrading from a 700 series to 900, unless you want a really low powered system.

Well, I'll be keeping my Titan's until the GTX 1000 series, or whatever it will be called is released.

This is always the case, like 580 ~ 670 ~ 760. My R9 290s can sit through this upgrade cycle. If your Titans need a new home, let me know.

so should i buy one of these or just get a second 780ti ?

Wait 1-4 weeks til the 780Ti owners are upgrading, then buy used. You saw the performance charts. Assume 60-90% SLI scaling in most AAA games.

780ti SLI is still significantly faster than a single 980.

Of course. The 980 does not outperform a 780ti by much, that was not its purpose

Who said it was?

He wants to SLI 780ti, so something tells me he must need (or want) the horsepower; something a single 980 will not offer.

Ordered the Gigabyte from the Amazon link above, $549, shipped in 2-4 weeks, sweeeeet.  I JUST got the 780Ti Asus Matrix Platinum which is a beast and pretty too, but, in my mITX with 450W, running that with a 4790K hurts.  This 980 should cure those underpowered SFX PSU blues.  Also, when DX12 is out, I am assuming that the 980/970 will get another big boost in performance, if DX12 is like mantle as I have previously read, except I would expect DX12 to get more traction in the next year or two of course.
