What do you guys think is the best antivirus software? Im new to this and I need some help chosing.

I just use avast and malware bytes

CPU: i7 3770k@ 4.6Ghz@ 1.23v - GPU: Palit GTX 660ti - MOBO: Asrock Extreme 4 - RAM: Corsair vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz - PSU: OCZ 650watt - STORAGE: 128Gb corsair force GT SSD/ 1TB seagate barracuda 7200rpm

You don't need one. Just be careful on what porn sites you go on, and the shit you put in your HDD.

i use Avira its free and more or less invisible

 

the best anti virus is common sense TBH

Panda Cloud Antivirus + like others have said- common sense.

if you have windows 8 or 8.1, windows security essentials isn't half bad and is really lightweight. beyond that I generally recommend avast! antivirus.

on my main rig, avira. 

On my less powerful pc i dont use one, the risk of getting malicious spyware does not outweigh the con of slowing down the computer.

Avast is free and if you dont download anything risky you will be fine

I use AVG free, but you can just use malwarebytes and you will be fine.

avg is great, so is avast

I use Bitdefender free antivirus. You need to register it once. Its very light weight (will not slow down your PC) and works great :-)

I have MS Security Essentials. It comes with Windows 8, but you can download it for Vista and 7. It's pretty lightweight, too. Getting Malwarebytes isn't a bad idea either. It doesn't hurt to turn Windows Defender on as it's off by default in Windows 7/Vista.

I'm surprised that no one brought up Hitmanpro yet. 

 

In my opinion it is superior to all others because it uses the databases of most virusscanners
