how old does your pc need to be to need upgrading i cant wrap my head around it?
setting aside those who must haz the latest thing....ivybridge? no, sandybridge? still awesome, i think it might be worth upgrading if you have something like a core 2 quad and did gaming but for most people a core 2 duo is still plenty for web browsing, videos and light gaming (minecraft, WOT, skyrim and so on)..

I wasn't in the computer scene until roughly 8 months ago, These prices seem high in comparison to last generation (not very surprised), and I would like to know what people predict when it comes to sales and price drops.

Usually they do drop a little bit after a short while, but they definitely seem abnormally high this time around.  Gigabyte's UD3H board is a good chunk more money than last year's UD4H.  ASUS's $180 board isn't even full ATX size.
