A Comcast technician just left my house and fixed my internet issue from a few days ago. He had to replace the cable outside. Anyways, The laptop in the same room (2009 Macbook) as the router is getting 91Mb/s down and 12Mb/s up. My Alienware X51 is in the room right next to it. It's about 20 feet or so away from the router. I'm getting 33Mb/s down and 12Mb/s up. My OnePlus One is in the same room as my X51, but it is getting 50Mb/s down. The other thing is that my dad's Mac Mini is getting better speeds than my computer, and is a lot farther from the router... It's getting 55Mb/s down. I don't even.

Anyways, is this a driver thing? I've already turned my computer off and back on... I don't know what else to put here, so just ask me anything.

Connect all the devices via ethernet cable then tell us your results.

Wireless speeds depends on a ton of things, such as signal strength, shape of the path, line of sight, wall materials, etc...

I can't really move my desktop and my desk over to my other room.

Yeah try reinstalling your lan drivers and see if that works

Where would I find that? Is it model specific? I'll try to find it.

Can't. I don't even have an ethernet cable long enough.

what I have seen with desktop wifi adapters is that they are generally shitty compared to integrated laptop wifi cards, ecpecally the USB wifi adapters. You may need to get a different wifi card. A cheaper option is to get an ethernet cord, I was able to get one for $5 that ran 25 feet from http://monoprice.com.

Go into the router settings and turn off any QoS and things like that. I had a similar issue and when I did this I no longer had speed issues.

It sounds like a hardware issue. If updating your drivers doesn't solve the problem than you can upgrade your wifi card.

Well... It seems like I have to change rooms anyways so I'm going to be running a wired connection now. I'll update this thread once I move.

Sounds like it's just wireless to me.  I don't think there are any problems.
