Well that is definitely a nice score, but honestly I cracked 15K in FS with a reference design and a stock heatsink, if you can´t beat that with a Classified then you can throw your machine in the dumbster ;).

Time for you to do FS Extreme and ULTRA now!

EDIT: I am thinking about a new spread sheet for RAM speed and RAM OCs.

If you only knew what you have to go through to get the kingpin bios to not crash the driver in Windows.

Trust me I know what a heavily modded BIOS is a pain. And then you run a benchmark and it´s almost done and the PC crashes... and then you try over and over again because you hope on that one good turn with an ambient temp of 2°C...

I am kind of loosing my interest a bit right now in the GTX980s. I feel like with air and reference design I achieved as much as possible and I´ve got those cards now 6 months. I start feeling uneasy and need new GPUs, actually my whole machine is not very satisfying at this point. And since the Tax God was kind to me, I think it´s about time to do something new real soon.

Either AMD GPU's or get different 980's?

Know exactly how you feel which is why I'm going to be playing with DICE. Something new and challenging. I was planning on putting them on water but what's the point.

That doesn´t make sense TBH. I think I will have to wait until nVidia and/or AMD bring out the next highend card and go from there on. The only thing that I can do, is give my Corsair 900D away for painting and get my new mainboard for my 5960X.

That are true words! But for me water cooling is the way to go since I do that for a very long time and I find it awesome looking and very reliable for OCing. I think my next built has rigid tubing though. I want to excite myself again. Is it too much to ask for a bad ass look and killer performance? I say NO it isn´t too much!

I want to try rigid tubing but i just dont have the patience

BTW Naj. You have a 5960X, I only have a lowely 5820K. Imagine how much higher my scores would be with 2 extra cores and 4 extra HT's.

Yeah rigid tubing is so awesome. My issue is I have to find a way to go with ridgid tubing and find the the ability to change GPUs. That's what alwazs kept me back because I change GPUs so frequently. I've had 12 GPUs in 2 years and probably 30 in the last 5. So if I can figure that out I think rigid tubing is booked for me.

Yeah true words with the 5960X. But I'm in love with that CPU... such a beast. Been doing some 4K Unigine Valley Benchmarks last night at 2 degree Celsius ambient temp. Man insane...

So my 3Dmark workload kept crashing because the GPU was to cold on air but I did squeeze some more speed out of it today so hopefully tomorrow I should have some new scores for it.

Nice, at least you man up and get the 4way SLI with the 5960X! Awesome, the crown will be yours for a while then! I thought you wouldn´t get the 5960X anymore, and honestly you would have kind of cheated yourself on that. For OCing in a highend region this CPU is the only true CPU.

May the OCing Force be with you.

So I managed to increase my score to 10,372 but upon further pushing the core clock and memory clock, my scores went back to stock and 3DMark is registering my core and memory clock back at stock, but MSI afterburner shows my clocks at 1400MHz core and 2000MHz memory. Can anyone explain this? I had my power limit set to 110% then I increased it to 112% (max). The one thing I haven't touched it the voltage. Do I need to increase the voltage slightly?

Your scores went back because the driver crashed probably. You might increase the Voltage and go from there on. Don´t worry you can´t fry the chip unless you flashed a modded no limits BIOS :).

I am not familiar with voltage increases. Where would a good starting point be and what kind of increments should I be using?

+31mV and many BIOS allow you to go up to about +87mV. I´d go up in 10mV steps.

Thanks for all the help Najuno, I did find out that the max is +87mV with Afterburner on my 970. I really want to get into the 11k range of scores with the standard Firestrike benchmark, I'd be happy if I make it there.

No problem :). Yeah that´s pretty standard unless you have something like a GTX STRIX they allow only +37mV and have a hard lock in their BIOS. Well if you have a good CPU cooler, you should OC the CPU further. Physics scores in 3D Mark FireStrike is always a big thing.

Only FireStrike ULTRA the 4K benchmark does not rely so much anymore on the Physics score.
