USB headers on board? Need more than 3!

Go to solution Solved by xox,

You can get something called an internal USB hub. NZXT sells one.

You can also use a USB (outside) to header (inside) cable

Hey guys,

I have an interesting conundrum. My motherboard (MSi Z97-G55 SLI) has 3 headers on the board to connect USB functionality to. I have one for my X61 Kraken control and two for my front I/O.

I have a Corsair Link that I would like to hook up to my motherboard but have no open USB connections on my motherboard. As well as a Grid+ that I would like to use but cannot because of the lack of USB connectivity required.

Are there motherboards with more USB connectivity than my own? More than 3 headers, that is. Otherwise is my only option to disconnect my front IO connectivity to support my Grid+ and my Corsair Link?

Oh, very interesting. Does each plug have it's own identity or will it be read by my computer as being one device?

I noticed on the first review that it was detected as a USB hub. I wonder if it would work with my GRID+ or my Corsair Link.

I know right, such an ingenious device

It works like most other USB hubs, like you may have seen to plug multiple USB sticks into one socket.

I don't know what exactly you mean by the question, but I would plug Corsair Link and the NZXT thingy into it. As they will not use massive bandwidth like the USB ports.

All right! I was just wondering if the Link and CAM softwares would detect the devices even though they're being used through the hub. I'll find out! Thanks for the help.

Yeah, it should work, but if it doesn't, you could always plug Corsair Link and the NZXT thing directly in the motherboard and then the other things into the hub.

The possibilities are endless.
