I want to play PC games in my living room and bringing my keyboard and mouse is not ideal unless I sit on the floor. So anything I can do? I'm too impatient to wait for the steam controller or buy the roccat sova because I have a gaming keyboard. I've also heard of that fucking foam and board (couchmaster) that you put on a couch which I do not have. Any suggestions from you guys? Also not all of my games work with my X360 controller so I wanna use my keyboard/mouse

Use a wireless controller connected to your PC...and use steam big picture mode.

Well if you want to use keyboard and mouse you will need something like the couchmaster...

Why don't you want to sue the couchmaster?

The couchmaster is expensive and takes up too much room so I can't use it in my rocking chair

So you are looking for a flat surface that isn't the floor which you can put your keyboard and mouse on?

YES! But it needs to be comfortable...

Edit: I have a blackwidow ultimate and a pretty big mousepad...

So basically no known solutions work for you... The only other thing I can think of is getting a desk. Either give up your chair, buy a couchmaster or buy a desk. Being unreasonable to want to rock in a rocking chair while using a keyboard and mouse.

Maybe I can screw some pegs to a plank of wood, add some foam, and paint it...

You could try one of those cushioned food trays, or just a cushion under a plank of wood. If your chair has arms you could get a smooth piece of wood (a desk surface?) wide enough to rest on the arms.

Sounds like a good idea but too close to my body...might work on my lap with some padding though...

Still, if you rock in the chair, the keyboard will slide off and you won't be able to use the mouse well. I think you'd have a better experience if you ditch the chair.

Ah, you need one of these:

B0013KLL72_1.jpg

It has a soft pad on the bottom so that it can rest on your lap, and a hard flat surface on top for keyboard and mouse. Just google 'keyboard lap tray' and find one that will fit your keyboard and mouse comfortably.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Frankly, If your situation was as dire as this thread makes it seem, I would just suspend a platform from the ceiling with a simple pulley.  Surface comes down when you need it, and is out of the way just as easily.

I usually have the keyboard on my lap then a pillow with an aluminium mouse pad on top next to me but if you're OK with gamepads the Xbox 360 one is good, even if the game doesn't natively support it you can bind the controls to use it and worst case scenario use a 3rd party app to map the 360 controls to keyboard/mouse inputs, that also allows you to use it on the desktop as a mouse ;)
