Erhmahgerd, the Surface Pro 3

Guest

I have never wanted an item more than a Surface Pro 3. :(

I would sell my desktop setup for it, but then I remembered: don't go crazy. I want to game LoL and WoW and that simply won't happen on a Surface device in a proper way.

But the thing is so alluring!

Well I had a Surface 2 RT before and while I absolutely LOVED the thing I was bummed out it couldn't run x86 programs after all, at first I thought it wouldn't bother me.

I love everything about it, the portability, the weight, the design and material, full windows, the keyboard covers, the ports.

I love the Surface Pro 3. It's beautifully designed, and it's powered like a beast. I wouldn't mind one either :P

I played with one (at least I think it was a surface, sorry if it wasn't) at PC World. 1440p. Windows 8.1 worked lovely on it, and seemed pretty responsive. Great little device, I'd replace my ipad for one.

The only problem with the SF3 is its price, 899$ for i3 + 4GB RAM + 64GB SSD? Yuck

Also the windows button should be at the bottom, not on the right side, although being 3:2 people will still use it as if it was 16:9

It's actually a full laptop, x86 and all, with an all day battery life. And Intel HD graphics. Keyboard, ports, everything with it.

So overglorified no, overpriced? Definitely.

While it's a nice device, to me it far from a laptop replacement. And that is coming from the owner of a Surface Pro 3...

Nah, it's a tablet with an external keyboard.

For 900$ you're better off with a real laptop.

Nope, I don't think so.

It's definitely much lighter, it has ports like a laptop, it has full windows like a laptop and a keyboard which you can attach/deattach/serves as a cover.

On top of that the build quality is very tight and the material used is premium.

The kickstand is nice and useful and I don't see that on any other tablet

So stop downplaying it as an 'overglorified tablet' because it definitely is more than that.

It can even mow grass and make popcorn, it doesn't mean it's a laptop.

You're right, it's a laptop/tablet hybrid, very much suited to replace an ultrabook for work.

But it's not your average every day tablet.

If by ports you mean 1 USB port, mini DP, and a Micro SD then sure. To me it is a between tablet and Laptop but it definitely is not a Laptop replacement for me. I demand more functionality out of a laptop and it is very awkward to use when their isn't a solid surface (Pun intended).

Yeah, I think the word "hybrid" describes it well.

Hmm, well I yeah, it's not a FULL laptop, obviously with less power.

It's an hybrid really.

Nah, it doesn't have the same body and I don't like Razer plus that thing costs twice what a Pro 3 costs. :P

Yeah but that is legitimately what it costs. Compare this product to the MacBook Air if you really want to take Apple into this... X86 processors are legitimately more expensive than ARM processors (since they are less powerful and also easier to design apparently).

That said, for each configuration, the Surface IS more expensive than the MacBook Air. Plus the SSD on the Surface is not nearly as fast as the one on the Mac.

On the other hand, the Surface has a much better display and also touch. The form factor as a whole, however, is personal preference.
