7950 Overclocking questions

Hi, i have a SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB with Boost. I overclocked it to 1050mhz and it appears stable without increasing the VDDC. Runs all benchmarks fine and ran unigine valley for an hour fine. When i push it further it crashes during 3dmark. 

 

My question is how far can i increase the volts :unsure: ? Of course i googled and found mostly 1.25V as a answer. Stock being  1,168 (GPU-Z reads max at 1.15V). Also is it even worth it pushing further than this ?

 

Oh one more question, i am unsure what the power limit is and what it does ?

MSI Afterburner. Install that and use it. You should be able to figure it out from there. :)

MSI Afterburner. Install that and use it. You should be able to figure it out from there. :)

 

I use Trixxx since afterburner does not allow me to change the core voltage. Also i was asking what volts where safe (i don't believe those are in the afterburner tooltips  :P ) amongst other things

Huh. Well, either all the way (not sure if it has a limit on how far you can go) or 1.2ish volts.

power limit is how many watts it can suck from your PSU before it starts throttling

Huh was my response too  ^_^ I would have prefered to use afterburner, but Trixx does the job :)

I think you should try to keep around 1.2v, since it may be a case of diminishing returns (where you have to start adding more and more voltage to get less and less frequency), and you will have to deal with the extra heat output by the chip.
