Memory: 4096MB RAM (DDR2)

I assume you're using AM2+. In that case, you can still upgrade to a Phenom II if you find one.

Your CPU dates from the stone age. You need an upgrade.

try looking for any Phenom II X4 if u dont want to upgrade your mobo.

if you have the money, new intel or amd are viable

My cpu is seriously slowing my computer down and will only play games at 40fps max no matter ultra or low settings. Is it just my cpu is slow and old? When i play games its always under 100 percent load. I thought for sure when i got this old thing that quad core wasn't necessary and the 3.0 GHz is more then enough for gaming, this is my first rig so i could be wrong. any ideas anyone?

For quite a big upgrade I suggest a 990FX motherboard and the FX-8320/8350

well i cant afford to upgrade the mobo right now, but i would be able to get a new cpu. im just having trouble deciding which one would pair best with my mobo, because i dont want to spend a bunch on a cpu my mobo cant handle. will my current hardware be able to handle a phenom II x4 900+?

You blame AMD for buying an old product? I blame the user for getting that ancient CPU. What did you think was going to happen?

Intel.  Cause AM3+ is dead, and the FX processors are still old, Circa 2009.

Go for a Pentium G3258, it's cheap, overclockable and it works well

It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature!

The processor is extremly holding back your GPU. I'd suggest upgrading your bios to F15 and buying an X4 965. Or buy a new motherboard 4GB DDR3 and an i3. You'd be looking at around $250 depending on the motherboard you get.

My suggestion if you go the new cpu, ram, mobo route.
