yeah a little

depends on the game though

some will be fine, others you will have quite a bit lower fps compared to an i5

What kind of games does he play?

Dayz I am not sure about, but BF4 should run ok with the FX-6300.

In that video the i7-3770k is overclocked, the FX-6300 isnt. Well, according to the video description. It is digital foundry, so it should be somewhat legit.

I would suggest buying a good cooler and motherboard, and then overclocking the chip.

DayZ, you absolutely need to get an Intel processor if you want halfway decent performance.  Strong cores are what games rely on, and FX does not provide that.  Consider switching to an i5.

in DX10 and DX 11 games your friend should be fine

in DX9 games, Skyrim or Borderlands 2/Pre-Sequal, the the frame rate will dip a little in intense areas.

i'm currently playing Skyrim on the Ultra High Preset with a 75hz monitor, and i rarely go below the 75 of my monitor, when i do is in areas with about 30 or so NPCs and i am looking in their direction.  Most time i do not notice the dips, except that i have a FPS counter on my screen i look at every now and then.

i did notice that in the times of lower FPS the CPU or GPU usage doesn't go up noticeably so i do not really know what is going on.
