Temps On Idle | Are They Normal

48912458259fc8fa37a99bb1929ddd5d.png

I currently have a i7 4770K running at 3.5GHz (Stock clock for now just to save the life span of the CPU until I start doing more gaming and animations again)

Its being cooled by a Corsair H100i

But these temps look to high for running on idle

EDIT: I re-apply thermal paste about every 3-4 months.

EDIT 2: These are the temps when my fans are cranked up to max RPM's

I have a 4770k at 4.4ghz on air with a NH-D14 and I get lower temps than you on idle, you could try better TP or reseat the cooler, but those are fine either way.

Idle temps don't really matter. It's load temps that are much more important.

What are your load temps?

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

What's more important are your temperatures under load.

Those temps are extremely, extremely, extremely, high with the cooler you have and at stock clock speeds. Re-apply your thermal paste PROPERLY and install the cooler PROPERLY before your CPU dies a horrible death.

like I said above I re apply thermal paste every 3-4 months.

EDIT: I will probably re apply it this weekend.

It's also not necessary to reapply thermal paste every few months.

Your CPU or cooler might be defective, or you're applying your thermal paste incorrectly.

It might be your room temperature also, but that would mean your house is a boiler with those temps.
