Asus Z97-A unknown device

J0ey

Ok, I'm about ready to buy an iMac at this point.

I had some issues with my Gigabyte Z87 motherboard, (random BSOD's, Kernel-Power 41 errors). RMA'd that board and bought an Asus Z97-A.

The Asus board is functioning correct, but the is a unknown device: ACPI\PNP0A0A\2&DABA3FF&2

The drivers I have installed:

  • Intel Chipset
  • Intel Management Engine
  • Intel LAN driver
  • ASUS Probe II Sense Driver

When I search for the unknown device code it appears to be the Asus Probe II Sense Driver, but the only thing this driver does is placing it under System Devices as unknown device. There is also a Windows Update update for the device, but this update fails. The "Update driver" in device manager also fails.

Another tip I read was to try the DVD included with the motherboard - I don't have a DVD drive.

Is what you're looking for I believe.

Or use the driver disk, install driver->choose from folder->select root of disk and install

Thanks, I also tried that driver but that didn't work either. It seems to work after trying to update the driver multiple times in device manager.

  • 9 months later...

I'm not sure if anyone cares, but I had the same issue with my asus z97-P.

After a lot of searching I found that this device is the "ASUS Probe II Sense Drive." You should be able to download the driver from the Asus support site under utilities.

Since the answer wasn't in this thread yet I figured I'd post it here.
