This really should have been a status update, just cluttering up the forum with your day-to-day life isn't well appreciated.

You'll be bottlenecked by your VRAM long before you'll use the power of 3x 780Tis.

As for everything else --> dotdotdot

What are you going to do with three 780Ti's anyways? It can't do 4K because not enough VRAM, it's overkill for 1080p and even for 120Hz it's overkill.  Are you planning on getting a 240Hz TV?

Otherwise I would sell them, get three R9 290X's and get a small watercooling loop.

lol when was the last time a 240Hz TV was legit 240Hz

If going for three cards I would go for three 780 6GB's

But also, going from a 3770K and dual 780 Tis to a triple SLI with 780 Tis and I'm assuming a 5930K is insane.

Imo just sell the 780Tis and get a freakin R9 295X2 and keep the 3770K.

That would be a power downgrade? Why would anybody buy a R9 295X2? It costs as much as three R9 290x cards, but is only two of them.

vRAM doesn't work even close to that.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

What do you mean? For him to make use of 3 780Tis, he'ss have to do something crazy like 4K or surround 1440P or something along those lines. By then he'll be capping those 3GB of VRAM.

Again, vRAM doesn't work like that. It's per-game, not simply "if I run a game at 4k resolution it's going to need 4GB of vRAM". I can run Dark Souls 2 at 3840 x 2160 via GeDoSaTo with the graphics maxed out and it'll only use 1.4GB of vRAM AT MOST. And since I play in borderless windowed, I'm sure some of that is as a result of my desktop being rendered as well.

And then on the flip side, Titanfall at 1080p with 2x MSAA and Insane texture quality in borderless windowed uses what, 3.6GB of vRAM? Up to 3.9GB if I use 8x CSAA. Want some proof? Here you go: https://hostr.co/file/aHSZ7rfWCkLD/Screenshot-948.jpg

Or here's some from CoD: Ghosts sitting at the main menu, using almost no GPU power but gladly grabbing all my 4GB of vRAM https://hostr.co/file/72yflHipACAU/CoDGhosts4GBvram.jpg

He can quite easily run something like Sniper Elite 3 on max graphics with the SSAA turned up or Witcher 2 with Ubersampling and stuff with 3 780Tis and maybe even get into some 3D gaming, or simply make use of 120/144Hz monitors. Put BF4 on ultra at 1080p and see how easy you get 144 fps constant >_>. BF4 on ultra, by the way, only uses 2.2GB of vRAM.

So basically, he can make quite good use of three 780Tis without hitting the vRAM limit. vRAM is not related to system drain. It's simply how big the textures are in most cases. And you can have good looking textures with low vRAM usage too; like Prototype 2, which for some reason always surprises the hell out of me when I stop and admire its walls and stuff, because its vRAM usage usually sits below 1GB.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I understand all that, but I have a counter! Unfortunately I'm on my phone and it's 2:21am, so you win (for now). gg
