1ms Vs. 5ms

Go to solution Solved by Cokeman,

I think the 4ms difference is too much in FPS gaming.

No it's not you will never notice the difference a blink is slower then 4ms

Not much of a difference. Your reaction time is over 200ms, so what's 5ms gonna do :P

Input lag is more important than grey to grey response time.

1ms is an overdriven figure, with that software switched off it will be 5.

5 is fine, worry more about checking out your panels on tftcentral or prad.de for their input lag/display latency if you want to game on FPS as that's the important number.

If you see a contrast ratio wildly above 1000:1 ignore it, if you see pixel response times under 5ms for a 60hz panel ignore that also, the are box candy and nothing more.

It makes a difference when it comes to ghosting etc. If you're trying to pay competitively I'd go for the lowest response time as these generally also have lower input lag.

Input lag is more important than grey to grey response time.

It's noticeable depending on the game. FPS are the titles that are most affected by it.

Then I don't see any 1440p like that.

Asus ROG Swift PG278Q

This is the monitor I am looking at.

How much fps will I achieve on R9 290x x2 vapor x in bf4 and other games?

You should get over 100 on BF4 at 1440p, not sure about other games as it depends how well SLI/CF works on them.

To a answer your question on response time yes and no, on games like CS it is critical to have as little delay as possible but on any other game 5ms is perfectly fine and any lower will hardly benefit you.

As a hardcore FPS player,I want to know what is the difference between 1ms and 5ms.Does that much difference really mater in FPS gaming like bf4 or any other game.Right now I am looking at a 1440p Asus monitor and it has 5ms response and 60hz refresh rate.

No 5ms isn't going to matter at all you will never notice the difference. Most monster have a input lag of 9-20ms you will ever notice the difference. But if your a hardcore FPS player don't play on a tv bigger then 37". At that point the input lag does become noticeable. Funny story so I was at a friends house the other day and he has a movie theater with a 120" screen and a projector. That thing has like 350ms input lag you pull your trigger (cause I was playing on 360) and like half a second latter the gun starts shooting.

So does refresh rate matter?

So does refresh rate matter?

Yes refresh rate matters if you are playing at a locked 60 fps on a monitor that has a 60hz refresh rate then that's fine. But if your playing above 60 fps you will get sluggish motion because you will be seeing the same frame twice. If you are looking for a new monster or just want to see a demo of what I'm talking about here's a link to a Asus monitor with a 144hz refresh rate
