Hyper 212 EVO any good?

it's a cheap cooler, it outperforms the stock cooler easy. It's good for moderate overclocks.

one of the best price/performance coolers on the market would be the big brother

What temps are you getting, what clock etc? Is it acctually silent?

Technic 3D has a good selection of cooler, you can compare yourself. Temps are DELTA-T(K) - need to add room temp. CPU is a 2500K, normal and overclocked to 4.4GHz

i would say it really depends on where you live! 212 evo costs 30$USD but also 30€

 

thermalright Macho costs 32/36€ ( 120mm and 140mm version. ) but 47/55$USD

 

but i don't really know whats up with that. I mean CPU coolers are all build somewhere in asia.

Well good cooler when you look at performance/price ratio, easily suitable up to 4.6ghz IMO

Check out this article, its got a lot of good information on coolers in general and shows some benchmarks for the 212 evo. Definitely a great cooler for the price

It's a good cooler, but I would hardly call it silent.  Cooler Master has fans that tend to vary from person to person in terms of noise.

 

Mine, for instance, is really freaking loud.

Same, without that fan my computer is dead silent except for the WD Black which is LOLOUD

I love that cooler, my old 2500k that I had at 4.5ghz, max temps were 75º C (push/pull). Right now it's on my 3770k.

I wouldn't call a 2500K old. There is a small performance difference in the newer generations. Linus was talking about this last night in the livestream.

I have this one and this baby keeps my fx 8120 nice and cool and its very quiet! And for that price, its a winner!!
