Hyper 212 EVO any good?

Dr.Knot

Love mine, 4.4GHz OC -- i5 3570k ~ idle temps 35°C -- max temps around 75°C-80°C when rendering in C4D for 16 hours, same in prime95.

Stock clocks temps were; idle 28°C -- max temps around 65°C-70°C.

Lovely cooler, although a pain to fit, its only annoyance, but once its on, its amazing!

Another good option is a Xigmatek Gaia, it performs just as good and is currently cheaper.

I love the 212 Evo. I have it on my 3770k right now. If you're overclocking I'd recommend you have two fans on it though because a single fan just won't cut it but that depends on your overclock of course.

Check this out if you're uncertain of the fan configuration you should be running.

Its hard to argue will all the glowing reviews on the 212, but ill give you my 2 cents. I have a 212 and I use arctic silver 5 on it. My case is a HAF XB my cpu is a duel core Pentium at 3.0GHz.  My stock cooler idles at 45C my 212 Idles at 40C, I have dune everything possible to get better temps. I use more Thermal past and I have used less, I have used 1 fan in push then 1 in pull. I have used 2 fans in push/pull, I have had the fans blowing out the back of the case and into the case.  This cooler is just not as good as everyone claims it is, for $30 it should do more than just 5C better than stock. However I cant rule out that maybe my case and the arctic 5 are what is giving me the 5c difference.

SO NO DON'T BUY A 212!

Idle temps don't mean anything... load temps do

Best bang for your buck cooler, I get around 55 degrees max with my 3570K and 212 Plus (which is the older, worse twin).

Pretty good, using one myself with the stock fan and an NZXT FZ 120mm in push/pull.

Keeps my chip nice and chill at 39~40degrees idle with ambient temperature around 30 degrees, and 55-60 at load during games.

I have used mine in two builds the first was a Phenom II x4 965 BE @ 3.9 Ghz. Think I got a bad bin couldn't push it past that without some serious voltage I believe a 24 hour prime 95 test produced 59 degrees.

My current build is a 3770k @ 4.5 Ghz and in a 24 hour prime 95 test I got 72 degrees. So it isn't a bad cooler for the price right now at idle I've got 26 degrees and under games like Crysis 3 58. But if youve got the money spring for a high tier cooler. Also throw away the stock fan and put on some nf-f12 or corsair sp. I hve the sp's on now I would have the Noctuas but they are so ugly.

It's a fantastic cooler for 25USD. It can handle fairly good OCs and if you're not OCing it's nearly dead silent (speaking from personal experience)

Please quote me if you want me to see your post about my post, otherwise I may lose track of the thread and never see it.

I'd love to help, but I'm probably gonna' have to ask for more info before we can get anything done.

Have a wonderful day.
