I am taking a beginners course in C++ what should my final project be

I was wondering if any of you guys had original ideas for a final project in this week long 9-5 c++ course I'm taking. It us my first time pprogramming, the only requirement is it has to be in the command line. I am running windows. Some people are making RPGs with encounters, others are doing the game of life simulation thing, I was thinking of maybe doing 2048. That's the skill level I am at right now by looking at those games.

Edit: by command prompt I meant no gui

I would recommend something small that won't take too much time, just little bit more complex than you are used to. It doesn't need to be one project, it can be several small ones...

C# Developer here, who says it has to be a game? Why not a tool, like a file backup manager (Compression/Directory management ) , or a chat bot that actually learns things about you, such as your interests? (expandable arrays/string management) Or a sound manager, that lowers and raises the sound of other applications when one application's sound hits a certain level? (Multimedia system hook)

 

There's plenty to do, don't be afraid to do something you've never done or don't know how to do.

If you want to make a game, I suggest going with something easy & awesome, like Tic-tac-toe or Snake. Otherwise, +1 to PixelPips. And (from my experience as a programming student), remeber to write a really well-detailed documentation, you can go as deep as describing the classes and functions.. That's how I've got some extra points.
