What should I do?

My best friend has been giving me some grief at the moment. Whether he knows about it, I don't know, but he is really good at being a complete dickhead sometimes.

 

We've known each other for 2 years. We have a great time together. But I feel like all I've been doing is giving and not getting anything back. For his birthday, I spent a good week of my time doing a drawing for him:

And quite recently, for another birthday, I took the time to plan building a PC for him, as a surprise (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/168660-pc-for-my-friends-18th-with-pictures-complete/).

 

I've driven him around when we needed to go somewhere together. I've helped him with any problems he's had with his tech. I've let him use my Netflix account to share since I can't afford it on my own. There are just some things he does that really drive me over the edge sometimes. Today he asked if I wanted to play BF3 with him, and I replied. But about 10 minutes later I saw him playing Watch Dogs. I sent him messages asking what happened but I got no reply. After a while he was playing Hearthstone, so I tried sending him messages on that. I had to end up spamming him just so he'd reply, to which he said "what im watching a film". I asked him what happened to BF3, and that ignoring my messages really wasn't cool. He never replied to them, nor had the courtesy of even apologising. At that point I was on the verge of changing my Netflix password, but I'm really not that person. God, his mum can be a better friend than he is - she tries to make interesting conversation with me. I'm pretty sure he thinks I can be boring sometimes. During the holidays we spent every day talking - then my friend wanted a break. Again, he ignored my messages but said he didn't see some of them.

 

I feel like I at least have some right to - I don't know... Some right to... take back what's mine? I'm not sure what I mean. I want to have a conversation with him about the way I feel, but there's never an opportunity. I've tried once but I could never find the courage nor the words, and I'm pretty good with my words. If we're out doing something, I don't want to ruin the fun we have by talking about it - because regardless of that we still have a great time. He's been teaching me to play tennis, and the enjoyment I have is the way I always want to feel. He's pretty much the only friend I have, and he is a great guy most of the time, so I don't want to ruin anything. I'm struggling to decide what to do.

 

I thought writing my thoughts down would help. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it. I understand this isn't the biggest problem in the world, but appreciate that some things mean more to some people than others. A close friendship with one person is one of those things for me.

Unfortunately it sounds like's just using your good nature for his own benefit, and is acting like a dildo. Don't buy him expensive things any more, and see what he does then.

Simple, stop being friends with him, befriend his mom, and get the sexy time with her.

Well, I am making the assumption she is hot. I had a friend in HS that had a hot mom, last time I went to the town I grew up in, I was going to stay at his house but his mom came to visit and he called and said that we couldn't stay there (which was fine, it's his mom) and I immediately said, "so? she and I can share the couch". Seriously she's a f**kin fox, and a divorced one at that. We were ALWAYS talking about banging his mom lol

He sounds like he's being a complete and utter tosser. There is no clear cut way to deal with this, but first and foremost, refrain from buying him anything else. Don't try and pressure him, and by that i mean stop trying to communicate with him everyday. Leave him be for a bit, If he truly cared for you as a friend he would figure something is up within 2 - 3 days, and start talking to you. You can go from there, and you can say your piece and see where it leads.

 

If he doesn't bother with you, then i am sorry but he turned out to be a bad apple. Just try not to spend lots of your hard earned cash on people in the future, as some people take it for granted.

Listen man...We don't have very complicated rules here, but one of them is quite clear. Pictures or it didn't happen! :D

I hope he does realise... I don't know if he's that emotionally intelligent though. He tends to be brash about his actions and he hasn't held much of a regard for my feelings in  the past. Hell he even said to my face that he'd pick another friend over me for his best man at his wedding. I appreciated the honesty, but still it hurt.

 

Also, he treats his parents like dirt sometimes, and man I have a rage for that bottled up inside me. People who are disrespectful to their parents, who don't appreciate what they do and have done for them really don't agree with me. But it seems everybody I know is that way.

To be frank with you, he sounds like a cunt. There is an old saying - you can't polish a turd. You've seen light where there was next to none, and now it's non-existent.  I would cut your losses with him, and just try not to brood over him too much.

 

If i was on your position i'd end up beating him up, but the best thing you can do is cut your losses and move on.
