There's a set of ATAPI cmd to change the drive speed. You could quickly throw together a program to do it for you.

Alternatively download DriveSpeed 2000 or some other similar program.

So, I came to the conclusion. I LOVE playing old games on HELIOS. But, I HATE the sound of my 52X CD drive going full blast. I used to use this one free program to slow the drive down (according to what I set), but I can't remember what it was called for the life of me. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me find it, since it's the one thing keeping me from playing on HELIOS more often on the weekends.

I don't have any ideas but I do remember gaming on my Windows 98 PC and it was hard to have a conversation while the disc drive was going.

I have an AWESOME 52x (or 54x, can't remember) CD-RW drive. It's white (so I'll replace it eventually to match the case), but I love the damn thing.

 

I don't know of any software but try getting a slower cd drive.

All I have are the 52x (or 54x, can't remember which speed) CD drives.
