You might kill something, burn something out, or it just wouldn't turn on or do anything.

The CPU just wouldn't have power? Could someone explain why you could kill a motherboard by not giving the CPU power? Not that I am doubting that it would kill it, but I'm a little confused as to why it would.

Burning out the 24-pin from too much load can kill the board. Again, not from experience or anything...

Oh so the 24 pin would try to replace the power that the 8 pin wouldn't provide. Wasn't aware that it could do that. Thanks!

I'm not sure that it does, in fact, that's an extremely simple protection circuit to build. No 4/8 pin = no turn on no matter what. I'm pretty sure every motherboard has that - But I could always be wrong :D
