Xbox 360 controller on PC

I recently built a PC with only USB 3.0 ports. When I tried plugging in my wired Xbox 360 controller, it never even got recognized, let alone play games. Someone please help.

Do other devices work in the same ports? Are the USB drivers installed?

That's strange, because mines does work with USB 3 ports. Have you tried looking around for drivers on Microsofts site, or maybe on an Xbox site?

What happens when you try plugging to a USB 2.0 port on your case? Maybe you should reinstall your usb 3.0 drivers as well as reinstall the 360 controller drivers.

It should in theory work with any USB port, and windows should automatically install the drivers for the controller, if for whatever reason it doesn't you can download them online.

If you didn't install the USB 3.0 motherboard drivers then the ports won't work. 360 controllers are plug in play with pretty much any version of windows so there's some other issue at work.

I have a 360 controller and wireless adapter and mine does the same only works on 2.0 no idea on how to get it to work on 3.0

Or your computer doesn't like your Xbox 360 controller and, as a result, refuses to communicate with it. Computers can be very stubborn when they want to be. (JK)

Have you tested the controller with a USB 2.0 port?

Check Device Manager and see if something shows up. If something shows up, than you can manually assign the right drivers for it. If it doesn't...that's strange, because I run my wired 360 controller for ages on a USB3.0 port.

My 3rd party one dont work on 3.0 either think its a driver issue with m.s. the 3rd party drivers dont work for shhhht and I found on google that the m.s. drivers work if u do .a manual install in device manager.
