hi can anyone tell me why my cpu need so much volts to go to 4.5ghz and 4.6ghz

 my cpu is running stable at 4.4ghz with 1.250 volts anything lower i get bsod i want to over clock to 4.5ghz but i need to apply 1.330volts for the cpu to be stable and at 4.6ghz i need to apply 1.42volts for it to be stable anything lower bsod my motherboard is a mis z77a gd80 and my cpu cooler is a thermaltake water 2.0 extreme .

why do i need so much volts for just 200mhz more  this my cpu .

this my cpu batch number but i cant find any info on it if its a bad batch or good batch 3228A976   E4 heres a pic of it  i even delided my cpu but saw no temp drops

you were probably just unlucky and got a bad chip.

@Snow3672

Silicon lottery. Unfortunately you didn't do very well.

Hi. When you reach border where you have to suddenly bump too much voltages at once in order to get OC stable then you reached your CPU OC limit. This means that your chip is not very good overclocker.

thanks guys for your help i taught i did something wrong just a bad overclocking chip l  one more question why is one of my cpu always at 40c i even dropped my cpu to 1600mhz one time and lower the volts to 1.1 and its still at 40c

Again it might be your chip. If one core is running hot all the time that could be what is wrong with your chip and what is holding back your overclock. Try disabling that core if you can/your mobo allows it and try overclocking on the other 3 cores.

i tried that already with 1 core enabled and hyper threading  disabled but no luck my chip wont run stable still still require 1.33volts to get a stable overclock at 4.5ghz with 1 core just a bad chip  thanks for the advice i guess i  need to save up money and get a i7 4790k  ;) or a i7 5820k lol jk

I have a 20C room and my 3570K ~30C idle. Usually normal for overclocked and overvolted CPUs i believe.
