Cheapest pay as you go/prepaid phone provider in the USA (California)

I'm going to be moving to California for a year, so i need to be looking into phones. I already have 2 unlocked phones that i want to use, however i barely use any texts or minutes compared to a lot of people.

In a month, i may use 20 minutes and have 100 texts (more received than sent) at the maximum.

(~£5 p/m at 9p per minute and 6p per text)

Anything i can find around though, costs a load per month and encompasses way more than i really need.

Is there a really basic provider that just lets me top up my phone and offers a cheap basic rate for calls per minute and texts?
