Monitor for Workstation

jedylan

Building a gtx780 based pc that I will use for video editing, photo editing, music mixing and gaming.

I am currently looking at monitors and cant choose between the Asus PB278Q and PA248Q. I would buy two of them (If I take the PB278Q I will have to wait a few weeks before buying the second and I would need to buy a calibrator)

Is Dual 27" too much?

Is the quality of the PA much better?

The PB278Q is getting an update soon, i'd wait for the PB278QR to come out where you live.

the pa is factory calibrated, but still uses the same panel, so if you adjust the colors yourself on the pb, there wont be any picture difference

also dual 27" is not too much. id go as far as to say you cant have enough monitor space.

So Id advise you to go with the two 27" monitors, but as @Mooshi said, wait for the updated PB278QR

Personal Build Project "Rained-On"

helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;)

You might find you like working with a 3440x1440 monitor (ultrawide) more than the standard 2560x1440: I used to use 2 1920x1080p monitors before I got the 34LGUM95, and i am glad I made the switch. Though one of its biggest perks is that it uses Thunderbolt, and I'm a mac user which means its pretty effortless (i've gotten it to work on windows 7 but you need to install drivers where as mac is just plug and play).

That being said, I wouldn't go back to 1920x1080 for productivity, and I think 2 of these 34 inch monitors are too much, but I'm not sure how I feel about 2 27 inch monitors, but I suppose I wish I had something like a 32'' 4k display instead of 34'' 3.5k display, but this comes very close for a fraction of the price, and its much easier on my laptop to run.

I have a 2019 macbook pro with 64gb of ram and my gaming pc has been in the closet since 2018

Yes I have but I am still not sure about the aspect ratio. It is same height as 27" same price as dual 27" but less screen real estate. I am looking at every possibility

I love it personally, but I guess it might not be everyone's thing, the thing with multi monitor editing is that the bezels would be in the middle of you design if stretching it to see more content, I suggest watching a few reviews etc. and making a decision. from me personally though, even from a multitasking, watching movies or gaming perspective.. I love my monitor.
