Planning a new build with 4930K, Dual 290X, Rampage IV Gene but I'm not sure of which MATX cases are most friendly to a custom loop. I've done builds where I expand out from an H220 or H320 but this will be my first fully custom loop. Trying to keep the cost under $200 for the case

No reason to pack everything into an mATX case. Why not go with something like an H440 mid-sized ATX case. Lots of room for strategic placement of parts and you can match the accent color to the cooling.

This is definitely something I'll look into. I just don't see any sense in building something larger than it needs to be. I've always thought you should find out what you want, and then build it into the smallest case that meets your needs. Mine does happen to travel to work with me occasionally.

If you can wait, I'd get either the Phanteks Evolv or the Phanteks Mini XL. Both are purposely made with water cooling in mind.

I like the look of the Evolv, but the details around it are kinda iffy. In the animated promo video it shows an 5.25 optical drive at the rear of the case and I tried for at least a week to find out what the deal was with that, but never found out

From the pictures it looks like there is a plate on the back that can be removed and mounting rails for an external drive. Looks like it might cause issues with some top mounted radiators.
