Posted July 29, 2014 Looking at certain areas in BF4 my frames go down from 90 FPS to 40 FPS but my GPU and CPU barely reached 80% usage. As shown in the pictures. Also there are other areas like that in the pictures. Also I have the feeling its caused by my RAM's speed. Since BF4 is known for having better performance with RAM that have higher clocked frequency. Posted July 29, 2014 Sounds like your HDD is just slow so every time the game loads more of the map/textures it drops frames. Mein Führer... I CAN WALK !!

Posted July 29, 2014 As for your CPU. Its supposed to be at 80%. It means that its not being bottlenecked by GPU. My 4770K runs at 60% while in BF4. ^^^^ That's my post ^^^^ <-- This is me --- That's your scrollbar --> vvvv Who's there? vvvv
 Posted July 30, 2014 You guys do realize these frames are completely normal. Ram speeds do affect fps but at the most 10fps. And second, ssd only helps loading the map. Once the map has loaded, doesn't matter. When playing bf4, ssd only helps in loading time, but gameplay. hdd = ssd fps. Your frames and are completely normal and there is NO NEED for an ssd for this game unless you want to join a game faster. The reason why your fps dips to 40fps is because of explosions or gunfire or your cpu has to rendering more objects Don't bother with an ssd unless you want quick loadtimes for everything, but as far as fps goes, stick with hdd cause you will gain no fps on most games. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7503/the-amd-radeon-r9-270x-270-review-feat-asus-his/8 The link is to a review anandtech posted of your card. Your setup and game is completely normal and doesn't not require any changing.

Posted July 30, 2014 Don't listen to Oradian. If SSD won't make a difference in BF it will make huge diff in everything else on your PC. You have no idea how much stuff is loading from your drive
Posted July 30, 2014 What do you mean when you said "It means that its not being bottlenecked by GPU."? Hmm... I don't know what I mean. Must been tired when wrote that. Anyway, its normal for CPU being under full %. If it stays stable. ^^^^ That's my post ^^^^ <-- This is me --- That's your scrollbar --> vvvv Who's there? vvvv
 Your setup and game is completely normal and doesn't not require any changing. It doesn't drop and stay at a low FPS for a short period. It stays at 40 FPS when looking at that point constantly even in an empty server. So explotions and rendering time doesn't effect that drop of FPS. Even setting the graphics to low it the same story only that its around 50 to 60, but I prefer quality over FPS. Posted July 30, 2014 And #13, it is rendering cause say if you look out at the ocean, what does it have to render, just water and mountains, but if you look into a certain direction, it has to render say dust particles floating, gunfire, explosions, tanks, people, etc. I have tested the hdd and ssd with bf4 and got no fps difference. I have not tested the ram fps but from reviews, you may recieve a bit of a performance boost. Posted July 30, 2014 Oh ya, change to Mantle and make sure you restart the game. And run memtest ok at least 3 times cause different size ram with possible different timings can cause a performance hit to bsod.
 Posted August 1, 2014 Author After reseting my computer and installed BF4 I got an extra FPS boost! Not sure if its was the reset of my PC or the uninstallation of BF4. BTW here is before and after reseting my PC Before: 132 FPS After: 148 FPS These FPS were taken at the same place and same direction. Basically in the Test Range when you Deploy.
