Will there be a problem if I plug my rear exhaust 140mm fan into the CPU_OPT connector?

Just buy a fansplitter, a "PWM Y-Cable" costs like 1-3$

I need control of these fans because the NZXT fans that came with the NZXT H440 are so damn loud.  I have 2 140mm fans connected to the MOBO already which were in the front and are taking up the 2 CPU_Fan connectors.  I need a spot for a 3rd fan to give me control.

Or does anyone have any other ideas so that I can control all of these fans?  Thanks!!

I'm always up for fun and games but this section of the forum doesn't really seem like the type of place for it.  Just my two cents.

Fair enough. You can, but it's temperature will change with the other CPU fan and they will both scale up and down relative to the CPU temperature

Nothing will happen, you just have to remember what is plugged into where.

First option would be this because I can go and get it right now to get this over with http://www.frys.com/template/index/

second would be newegg.com

If you don't plan on varying the rpm later on and just wish to reduce the rpm/noise, you can hook them up to a free molex connector of a PSU. 5V or 7V mod. For some reason it's considered ghetto, but hey, Silverstone does it.

I'd probably have to go with the second.  The first is just too damn ugly.  I'll definitely get one just to have around but I might be switching back to 3 fans in the front, not sure(I might sell my NZXT X61 to get the Swiftech H220x).  If I did that, would it be better to buy something like a hub?  I'm looking at the NZXT Grid but it doesn't look like it comes with a pwm connector(can't remember if that's a problem or not on the new Z97 boards).

well with a fancontroller he wouldn't be able to control em adaptively to the temperature, it would have to be manual control, also his H440 has no 5 1/4 inch bays.

Oh, now I see. Did the same thing to my Antec 300 at some point, replacing the 3 optical bays with HDD bays.
