Looking for decent closed headphones.

Go to solution Solved by AnnoyedShelf,

My budget is around $200-$250 Australian Dollars. They will be NOT be amplified by any external source, just connected to my motherboard/front panel. No brand preferences. Preferably a set that's available through PCCaseGear please.

EDIT: as well as being closed, I need them to not leak any sound in. Like at all. I want to be completely shut off from the world when I have these things on.

Audio Technica ATH-M50s.  Perfect seal.

Looking for headphones, not a headset. No mic, please.

I have an msi 990FXA-GD80v2

EDIT, the 598's have also been discounted, since they're open. I don't care how good a pair of headphones sound, if they're open I'm not buying them.

Forgot to say, Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro, if you can find them somewhere else, they're not on PCCaseGear.

Well PCCG availability isn't a prerequisite, just preferred.

If you are bothered to set it up shopping through Amazon.jp and shipping it through Tenso.com. Prices there can be 50% less than what they are in Australia and shipping only takes 5-7 days. Otherwise another Australian store is Headphones.com.au but be prepared to find some pretty high prices compared to other places in the world.

Also Massdrop is recommended but their shipping times can take a month or more depending on the size of the drop, got an AKG Q701 coming next week too.

What do we think of the Beyerdynamic DT770?

Those are better than the COP in a number of ways. I would go with those.

Can they be sufficiently run off of my motherboard without another amplification in between?

EDIT: looking at the 80ohm version of them.

EDIT2: nevermind about the DT770, They do require external amplification. Thoughts on the Shure SRH840, keeping in mind I want as close to complete isolation as possible?

Yes.

I think I've made my decision, going with the M50. The sub $200 price also leaves me a bit of headroom for shipping from PCCG as well, which is usually a little expensive and I didn't think of when I started the thread.

oh noesss :(

i'm too late

oh well...

P.S. you should get beyers dt770, shure 840, senn's HD380. they're miles better than ATH M50.

When 2 things meet each other, Quantum stuff happens.

This thread go lost so fast. It started well with Beyerdynamics but then drove off a cliff with the M50s.

Why be helpful and progressive when you can recommend what you know regardless of use case, price, or legitimacy
