Hey Guys/Girls,

My laptop is starting to overheat alot especially when I game. I've check task manager to see if there is any applications using extensive CPU power (Could Be A Virus). I've also opened my laptop to dust the fan etc. everything seemed to be fine, the fan was not clogged up. Im now using both a Cooling Pad and a room fan to cool my computer  :D but its winter and its just getting out of hand  . I think it could be my thermal paste of which has burnt out, this is a possibility as my laptop has overheated so much it automatically shuts down 1-3 times a day... If its thermal paste I need I'd go buy a tube of IC Diamond but its quite expensive which is why I'd like to be sure of the problem. Any help is appreciated :)

Does anyone know what sort of thermal paste Lenovo uses?

What do you think the problem is?

Should I change the thermal paste?

Thanks In Advance.

LOL "applications using extensive CPU power (Could Be A Virus)" no offense but i always find newbies say these stuff hehe. Although its possible i highly doubt it.

It doesnt matter what thermal paste you use, they will all work. If your Laptop is over 3 years you should change the thermal paste if possible.

Also since you said it happens when your gaming, try using a better surface when gaming so the heat doesn't get trapped. If left on a table or your lap the heat will just pile up, allow ventilation.

Laptops are terrible for heat. Replacing with better TPU does help. Do run a malware scan (can find in my sig) and see if there are any infections causing problems because they can ramp up cpu usage and overheat machines

When I cleaned my laptop I cleaned the thermal paste and I used tooth paste, and its working for like 5 months, and here is a heck of a heat outside, though I dont usually check my CPU temps and such, but when I touch it in the back *that's what she said xD* it is not that hot, well... Sometimes...
