For my first gaming PC (On around a £750 budget) I am unsure of which CPU to buy- should I go for the i5 4690k for £160 or the i7 4770k for £240? What are the pros and cons of each and how much would they affect my performance? Any answers would be appreciated!

Grab the i5 for only gaming, the 100 pounds you saving, spend that extra on a GPU. like a R9-290 or what not.

Will give you much more performance, then just an i7 with a lower class gpu.

GPU wise you are best going for an Nvidia GPU.

as you used GBP i'm guessing your from the UK like me. For CPU go 4670k as the 4690k is atleast £15 more and no noticeable difference unless you want z97 for its features.

My build cost me £750 to start with and i got a GTX 760. For £750 i got the "Pc Specs"  part of my Signature minus the h80i, but all the prices have gone down since so you could include the water cooler in with that

The i5 is good for gaming. The i7 gives you maybe 1-2 fps more but you should only get one if you're doing video editing.

Although i agree the i7 isn't necessary it would give you more than 1-2fps.

I run my own indie game company called Color Dragon Studios where we are currently making a 2d platformer game called Small Earth.

More than that but not really that big of a difference.

true. But if you have enough money for it then the extra performance may be worth it to someone.

Not quite, in fact many Nvidia cards are beat by AMD cards at the same price. Don't be blinded by the Nvidia fanboyism.

When pairing up cpu with gpu combo. From personal experience I found Intel-nvidia better than Intel-AMD.

I have an Intel-AMD set up and it works perfect, everybody has different experience.

That argument is invalid. Intel is not nvidia.

That is true. It mainly all depends on the main usage of the gpu.

We all know that intel is not nvidia. The point of the statement i made was that pairing an intel CPU with a Nvidia GPU, 75% of the time can be better than paring an intel CPU with an AMD GPU. And as i stated above it also depends on the main usage of the gpu

no, unless the one you compare has cpu bottleneck.

I'm thinking something along the lines of this-->http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/sX7XJx opinions?

That's a good build but just remember that msi even though they do good components their customer support sucks.
