What's the best way to test for artifacts?

run a benchmark or game. if your driver crashes, or your screen freaks out, you know. if it happens, trust me you will know. you dont have to worry about it unless you have a OC, and you will notice it if it does happen just when your testing for stability,.

they will show as white patches or blocks of dark spot

 

lines can also be signs of Artifacts

 

Test it will a stable game like Crysis 3 or Metro Last Light

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
