280x near disaster

As the title says i had a near heart attack after trying to flash my 280x to a different 280x bios. After flashing and rebooting i was met with a black screen, spent 10 mins sat there like a idiot thinking what to do. Had a closer look at the card and it turns out it has a bios switch, thankfully i was able to recover and re-flash the correct bios to the other switch bios.

 

So whilst i'm at it, i should probably get some help getting a bios that works. The main reason for me wanting to flash another bios is that my voltage is locked on my current bios. The bios i was trying to use was an XFX 280x bios. Is there a better bios i can use? Here is a GPU-Z screenshot if it helps:

Why do you want to tweak the voltage? XFX gpus use reference designs, and if yours doesn't, it might have a pcb specially fitted for the bios.

Is there any way of finding out if my GPU uses a reference PCB? Also, if i want to overclock how would i do that with a locked voltage?

You don't need to change voltage unless you are doing watercooling or ln2 with extreme overclocking.

It's fine, don't touch the voltage

All of XFX R9 cards are voltage unlocked. 

 

The best way to flash a GPU is to find a bios from the same manufacturer and do some research to see if the card you have will accept the bios. You must also look at your card and what card the BIOs came off of you are trying to flash. There are several "reference" designs that require different bios and some of them can be used on different models.
