Hey, I heard that a GPU may have less performance due to the power cable type connected to it from a power supply, 1. is this true? 2. if it is, i'm using a gtx 770 factory OC with 1 2pin cable and 2 6pin cables attached to it. how much could it affect performance?

i don't see that of a problem

but just swap the power cables so you are running off from 2 different rails if you are concern

what cables should i swap to for the two different rails then?

Use 2 separate cables to your GPU if it has two power plugs (for example a 6 pin, and a 6+2 pin)

If your power supply is modular, connect those cables to two separate rows of connectors.

It really shouldn't be that much of a problem if your PSU is modular it is probably decent quality.

The main problem is using wire gauge that is too thin to carry the current to your GPU. Another problem would be using a single cable for both 6 pin and the 6+2 pin.

might need to see some pictures

as long you are using 2 different PCI-E cables plug from the your CX750M

it consider to be on different rails

single rail is basically powering your GPU using just one power cable from the PSU

okay,so currently i have it as one cable with a 6pin plus a 6+2pin

so i'll change it to have that same cable with just a 6+2 or a single 6pin, as well as adding another cable to cover 6pin or 6+2pin depending on which one i decide for which?

Yes 2 separate cables is good. It doesn't matter which is which, they both do the same job. Your PSU is powerful enough that you don't need to worry about the rail power config.

hmm,it shows on the top row a 6+6+8 one, below that, it says peripherals and sata, then 6+2 & 4+4 CPU

then below that on bottom row, it has another 6 + 6 +8. where should i connect the GPU ones to?

They are all compatible. If the cable has 6 pins, you plug it into the 6 pin modular connector. If it has 8 then it goes in the 8 pin connector. The two rows of connectors are 2 different rails, so If you want to be extra safe you can plug one GPU power cable in the top row, and the other in the bottom row. It will work fine though if they are on the same row too.

thanks, one more quick question, some of my 8pin connectors actually have 7 pins inside.. thats fine right lol? :P

Yeah it is fine. The 8 pin connectors only have 2 types of cables: positive and ground. More cables mean it will carry more current, which is why 8 are usually needed. Corsair knows they stuff, so they probably did extensive testing with their high quality cables and found 7 wires is enough to handle all the current your PSU can put out. On a PSU that can do 1000W+ 7 cables would not be enough unless they were even thicker.
