Can I overclock my laptop only when plugged in?

Can I have my laptop so it runs overclocked when i plug it in, but runs stock when unplugged? I use a cooler when its plugged in, so it could run a little hotter.

You'd have to do it manually, you can configure it in msi afterburner if you're pointing at your GPU.

Emmh... Maybe consider killing yourself before you talk to me?

 

Pople on this forum though some of them had a brain, turns out, no.

Laptops in general don't overclock. There are some roundabout and very tricky ways of overclocking CPUs on a laptop, but it'l just kick out more heat and perform around the same.

idk, I can OC my K CPU, download Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and see if it will let you do anything

Are there laptop K CPUs? I know Intel's integrated graphics can be overclocked on the desktop, but I'm pretty sure no form of overclocking is supported on laptops.

There is, but it's super limited. Misread what you said.

 

 

I've never heard of a K mobile CPU - it may be called something else (something I'm too lazy to look up).

I've just never heard of a laptop CPU that can overclock. I'm sure there'd be guides everywhere if they could overclock.

As far as I know without doing a Google search, laptops with an i5 or i7 mobile chip have Intel Turbo Boost (enabled in the bios) which overclocks the CPU to an extent, but I'm not sure it does that to every single core, or keeps them all active while overclocked.

Intel Turbo boost is not the same  :rolleyes: You need unlocked multipliers, which they probably don't have
