Um, if you have seen anything about the G3258, they are overclocking pretty damn well. In the range of 4.5-4.8GHz.

3258? Do you mean 8320?

I am sure he is talking about the Pentium G3258.

As for the CPU itself, just get an i5. You won't be sorry. The G3258 is fast once overclocked, but that is if you win the silicon lottery so to speak. I think you would just be better off getting the i5 and not risking it.

Im guessing he means the new unlocked Pentium 3258 but any i5 kills the Pentium in anything other than gaming and is even much better for gaming as stock speeds.

even a core i5-2500 is worlds better than the highest clocked pentium...pick an i5, hands down.

if there is any thing good bout the G3258, is it overclock like crazy, but an unlocked i5 would be better cause it's got stronger Cores witch is becoming a need by time

Everybody leave @Fooshi alone :3

Would you go with a 3258 or a i5 cpu I heard the 3258 doesn't over clock as well as advertised mostly for gaming

Pretty generic to just outright say i5. Which one did you have in mind the K edition original haswell or refresh DC.?

Not for everything. The Pentium sticks with the 4790K (stock) in some situations, which is miles faster than a 2500.

in anything that use 2 threads or less, yes...but this is becoming more and more uncommon for games and software to only require 2 or less threads...only some old fashioned games based on old game engines are still doing that...anything modern with a descent game engine will use at least 4 main threads and in all those the pentium just get stomped and simply has no chance.

Which is why I said not for everything.

And while I still think it would be a daft choice to buy the CPU, it does perform pretty well. Even in BF4, which is made to take advantage of up to 8 cores.

i must admit that those results if real are somewhat impressive...but i did ran watch dogs on my i7 with HT disabled and 2 cores turned off (so 2 threads available total) and it was running like crap...but this game do rely on very intensive CPU calculations to run well...
