Hi Guys,

I am looking for advise please, this is my current gaming rig:

Corsair R330 Case
Asus Sabertooth Z77 R2 Mobo
Intel I5 3570k Overclocked to 4.4ghz Processor @ 1.22v
Corsair H100i
Corsair Vegance 8gb 1600mhz Memory Dual Channel
Gigabite Windforce x3 GTX 780 OC RV.2
Creative Sound Blaster Recon 3D Sound Card
Crucial M500 256 SSD
2TB Samsung 7200rpm Hard Drive
Ocz 750watt 80+ Bronse PSU
2TB Samsung D3 USB 3.0 External Desktop Hard Drive
Corsair Vengeance M65 Gaming Mouse
Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Backlit Gaming Keyboard – Black - MX Red
Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D PCIe Sound Card
Creative Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage USB Gaming Headset
Windows 8.1 Home Edition
Acer GR235HA 23 inch Full HD 3D LED TFT Monitor - Black 1920 x 1080
BenQ W700 HD Ready 1080p 3D DLP Projector
Microsoft 360 Wireless Gaming Pad

What i would like to know or advise on is it really worth me upgrading or building a new rig based on the next gen games seeing as there is a rise for 4 core / hyper threading (8 core) gaming requirements.

As it stands now i can pretty much max any game out and still have 60+fps except on certain bad ported games e.g. Watchdogs!!
i have never known a game like it where i can only run this on medium textures & medium graphics setting to maintain 60fps with out lag / stutter, which is a total shame as it looks stunning when all the eye candy is on max settings including the Worst Mod.

So my predicament is this, would i need to upgrade to make sure future titles can run smoothly on max settings @ 1080p?

This is what my options are that i am playing around with:
A: Upgrade my current CPU to a I7 Ivy-bridge & upgrade my ram to 1866mhz (this is the maz freq my modo will take on ram)
or
B: Build a new rig i.e. New Mobo with latest gen I7 CPU / new 2133mhz ram / Quad Channel & utilize my other components
or
C: Stick with what i have and except certain games just don't run as well due to optimization.

Games i tend to play a lot are:

Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, Wolfenstien New Order, Watchdogs : (  etc...

Advise would be greatly appreciated also if you can back your answers up with actual facts rather than here say as i have heard a lot of miss leading info on other sites.

Many Thanks

Paul

Your rig is beast, don't upgrade. Especially not as long as we don't kinow what the future generation performs like.

If you want more performance, you could pair your 780 with a 2nd one. Your CPU has a nice overclock, you're fine. ;)

who cares...

I highly recommend you don't upgrade, a 780, 3570K with a H100i and 256GB SSD is more than enough for the "next-gen" games @ 1080p at max or high settings, IF you're wanting to hit the 60 fps mark.

CPU: Intel i7 8700K | CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 | RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x8GB | Motherboard: Asus ROG Z370-E | GPU: MSI GTX 970 | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB & 2TB | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB & 970 EVO M.2 500GB | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X | PSU: Silverstone Platinum Strider 1100W | Monitor: AOC i2367Fh | Headphones: ATH-M40X | Mic: Antlion ModMic 4 | Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB w/ MX Browns | Mouse: Logitech G502 HERO
